MTV Special: I Am The Femme Fatale

All day, Britney Spears is taking over MTV. That takeover includes a trailer for MTV's upcoming special about the pop star, "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale," which will take fans inside Britney's life to see what it's like to release a highly anticipated album.

Before the trailer premieres tonight at 7:58 p.m., teasers will air throughout the day. In the sneak peeks, fans get to see Spears work on the just-released Femme Fatale, including going over final production with will.i.am on their collabo. "I did some tweaking to 'Big Fat Bass,' " the Black Eyed Peas mastermind tells Spears as she gives the song another listen.

While on the way to rehearsals for her pre-album performances - including her set this past Friday at the Palms in Las Vegas, which will be included in "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" - Spears admits to having some "jitterbugs." It is, after all, her first time back onstage since the Circus Tour.

In another intimate look at the singer's life, fans get to see Spears and her assistant as they go to Starbucks to take a minute for themselves in the hustle-and-bustle of a hectic schedule. "It's nice to have a peaceful moment just to sit down," Spears says. "It's nice to relax before the chaos."

That chaos included getting fans excited for her album release. On top of taking the stage in Vegas for a set full of pyro, shimmering bodysuits and flirty dance moves, Spears also pre-taped today's "Good Morning America" performance in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood.

Femme Fatale Track By Track

Has it really been over 12 years since Britney Spears released her first album, "...Baby One More Time"? Though it seems only like yesterday to some, in that dozen years, she's released six studio albums -- not to mention two greatest hits compilations.

Fast-forward to the present, and the now 29-year old pop diva has brought us her seventh studio effort, "Femme Fatale." Largely produced by the inescapable hitmakers Dr. Luke and Max Martin, the album is chock full of uptempo dance numbers charged with lyrics about first looks, second glances and stolen moments.

Dr. Luke and Martin aren't the only pop masterminds behind the boards for "Femme." Spears also enlisted will.i.am, Henrik Jonback and Bloodshy, among others, to craft the 12 song set. (16 if including the four bonus tracks available on the deluxe edition.)

Britney Co-Hosting Wango Tango 2011

It's nearing that time of year when the hottest acts in music come together to take the stage for 102.7 KIIS-FM's Wango Tango in Los Angeles. On Monday (March 28), Ryan Seacrest took to his morning radio show to announce that he and Britney Spears will co-host the annual music fest, which will feature performances from Ke$ha, Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez.

Other acts scheduled for the concert event include Pitbull, Far East Movement, Jason DeRulo, Lupe Fiasco, T-Pain, New Boys and Cobra Starship. YouTube sensation Cody Simpson will round out the star-studded performance roster.

While Spears may just be hitting the stage as special guest co-host, the "Hold It Against Me" singer, coming off of hot weekend shows in Las Vegas and San Francisco, is no stranger to the Wango Tango stage. When her career was just taking off in 1999, the pop star performed at the annual festival and returned a few years later in 2001 to guest-host the festivities.

Tickets for Wango Tango 2011, which takes place May 14 at the Staples Center, go on sale to KISS Club VIPs on Friday, April 1, and to the general public on Saturday, April 2.

Britney's San Francisco Performance

The city of San Francisco loves Britney Spears and that love was apparent at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, where the pop star performed some of her brand-new Femme Fatale club bangers on Sunday afternoon (March 27).

The excited roomful of fans were among the lucky group tapped to watch her tape a "Good Morning America" performance, which will air on Tuesday, the same day her album drops.

Before Spears even hit the stage, five fabulous drag queens warmed up the crowd and declared their adoration for the femme fatale herself. Their sassy back-and-forth was followed by Cheer SF, a cheerleading act. After the room was sufficiently warmed up, "GMA" hosts Sam Champion and Robin Roberts came onstage to introduce Spears.

From a set that mirrored the one used in her Las Vegas show two nights ago, Spears kicked off with her lead single, "Hold It Against Me." She dazzled the crowd with an engaging performance, dancing around in a stunning silver bodysuit. After the song, she smiled, telling the crowd "It's beautiful" being in San Francisco to perform for them.

After a change of clothes into a body-hugging, black bodysuit, Spears got sexy for the will.i.am collabo "Big Fat Bass." As she shimmied to the thumping track, fans cheered along.

Spears even gave a shout-out to the local gay youths who were in attendance from the Larkin Street homeless shelter and the LYRIC center for LGBT youth. "They're in the front row; thanks for coming," she said.

Between songs, Roberts and Champion taped intros and the former teased a top-secret announcement Britney is set to make on Tuesday when the show airs.

Spears then performed one more track, her second single, "Till the World Ends," to cap off the performance. After her last song, an excited-looking Britney gazed at her fans and told them she was looking forward to releasing her new album: "I love music. It's my world, it's my everything."

Before she left the stage, Brit was presented with a certificate from the city, and she thanked them exuberantly for the super reception.

Britney's Las Vegas MTV Special

After a killer set from "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D on Friday night (March 25), a montage of Britney Spears' best video moments played to a hyped crowd at Rain nightclub inside the Palms Casino and Resort. Once the videos wrapped, the crowd went even crazier as the Femme Fatale herself hit the stage.

Spears sported a stunning sequined bodysuit and performed her first song of the night, lead single "Hold It Against Me." Flanked by sexy male dancers, she sashayed her way through the song, which included sexy hair-tossing and a wind machine.

For her second song of the night, Spears debuted the will.i.am-produced track "Big Fat Bass." Her dancers hit the stage in bright yellow, while Spears opted for a body-hugging latex bodysuit. She emerged from a speaker box, and the appearance had her fans screaming. The track was remixed to include past hits like "3," "Slave 4 U" and "Gimme More." She danced around the stage and climbed up on speakers as she danced to the track.

Britney kicked it up a few futuristic notches for her latest club banger, "Till the World Ends." The stage was filled with ladders, LED lighting, dancers and Spears in a black latex bodysuit covered in red lights. She clearly was having a good time, smiling to her fans. Her choreography was decidedly sexy, including flirty dance moves with her male dancers.

At the end, Spears ascended the ladders and ended up on a platform, gyrating from above the room. As fireworks lit the stage, Spears danced and tossed her hair as the song closed. The room was filled with electricity and excitement.

The performance was being taped by MTV for a special airing next week. A teaser will debut Tuesday on MTV, the same day Spears' latest album, Femme Fatale, hits stores.

Las Vegas (March 26, 2011) - Palms Casino Resort welcomed Jive Records recording artist Britney Spears to Rain Nightclub for two surprise performances on Friday, March 25. The performance was filmed by MTV as part of an upcoming Britney Spears special that will air next week in celebration of her album release.

In front of more than a thousand fans, Spears delivered songs from her latest album, Femme Fatale including the singles, "Hold it Against Me," "Till the World Ends" and "Big Fat Bass."

"We are extremely excited to have one of the most iconic artists of all time back at the Palms. Britney To Perform In Las Vegas

With less than a week until Femme Fatale hits stores, Britney Spears is adding another date to her promotional calendar. The "Hold It Against Me" singer took to her Twitter on Friday afternoon (March 25) to announce a performance at Rain nightclub at Las Vegas' Palms Casino and Resort scheduled for later this evening.

"Looks like my little secret isnt a secret anymore. Whos coming to watch me take the stage TONIGHT at @RainLasVegas at @PalmsLasVegas?" the pop star tweeted. "You're all invited. Be there or be square bitch!"

Britney is no stranger to the Rain stage. Back in 2003, the pop titan gave fans a sneak peek of her album In the Zone by surprising about 1,800 clubgoers with a 30-minute set, which included songs like "Me Against the Music" and "Breathe on Me."

Spears' Vegas performance is the latest in her string of promotional ventures for her upcoming LP. Last week, it was confirmed that she would pre-tape her "Good Morning America" appearance on Sunday, two days before it will air on the show. On the day of her album release, she will also appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for a late-night performance of her two latest singles: "Till the World Ends" and "Hold It Against Me."

In addition to her concert specials, MTV will dedicate March 29 to the singer for what is being dubbed a "Britney Takeover" day. The entertainer will also make appearances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and the Kids' Choice Awards on April 2.

Britney GMA Tickets Auctioned Off

Britney Spears is doing her part to try and help those affected by the tragic events in Japan. The Femme Fatale singer donated two tickets to her "Good Morning America" taping this Sunday in San Francisco to a local area radio station who then decided to use them for some good.

Bay Area radio station Wild 94.9 got their hands on two VIP passes to the show, which they in turn put up for auction, with proceeds going to the Salvation Army. By the time the auction closed on Wednesday night, the winner had bought their spot for $1,136.

Spears will be in in San Francisco this Sunday to pre-tape her "GMA" appearance, which will air on Tuesday - the day that her Femme Fatale album drops. Spears was originally slated to perform in the Castro district at midday, but due to potentially wet weather conditions, the show has been moved to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Spears' 'GMA' visit kicks off promo for Femme Fatale, which will include several appearances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" the week that the album drops. MTV will dedicate this Tuesday to the femme fatale herself for what is being dubbed a "Britney take-over" day on the network. Additionally, Spears will make an appearance on the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on April 2, though there is no word on whether she'll be performing, presenting or just getting slimed.

"Till The World Ends" Chart Update

Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" powers 20-9 in its second week on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her 10th career top 10. Five of her last six singles, since 2008, account for half that sum. She tallied her first five top 10s between 1998 and 2007.

Rolling Stone Interview

Britney Spears On Her New Album, Her Favorite Music and Working With will.i.am

Do your kids like the new record? What have they said about it?
Yes. They definitely dance to it but its kind of funny because they are still confused... It's like, 'who is this Britney Spears singer in contrast to mommy?'

How has your involvement in the record-making process changed over the years?
I have always been heavily involved in every album I have ever made. I'm very stubborn when it comes to recording and will only record songs I love, which is why it takes me a long time to make an album. I have to feel connected before I record and the song has to spark something inside me. Very few songs do that. I guess it's a good process because I love all of my music. I know there are a lot of artists that hate songs they recorded. I don't feel that way.

What was your idea for the overall sound of this album?
I wanted to make a fresh-sounding album for the clubs or something that you play in your car when you're going out at night that gets you excited but I wanted it to sound different from everything else out right now. I also wanted to experiment with all the different types of music I love which is why you hear a mixture of pop, hip-hop and dance throughout the album. I also really wanted to play with my voice and change up my sound here and there which was really fun.

You hear traces of some real cutting-edge dance music on the album - for instance, the dubstep break on "Hold It Against Me." How do you find new sounds?
I listen to a lot of different music from all over the world and I guess I just gravitate towards what sounds fresh and what makes me want to move. I really didn't want to record anything on this album that could be mistaken for anyone else out there. I think my first two singles, "Hold It Against Me" and "Till The World Ends," sound completely different from anything else and I think when my fans hear the rest of Femme Fatale they'll see how fresh every song is.

Do you still go out to clubs? What kind of dance music do you like?
I don't go out that much anymore but when I do, I definitely like to go out and dance. I'm a big vibe person when it comes to music so a song really has to make me feel a certain way in order for me to fall in love with it. I love hard pounding dance songs with really beautiful melodies over them. Those are my favorites.

What kind of music do you listen to at home?
I love the Peas but I also love Deadmau5. I guess I'm all over the place. Lately I have been listening to Robyn and Adele non-stop but I also love to find new artists that very few people know about. It's one of my favorite things to do because it's like being part of a secret. Friends and people around me are always showing me new artists that they love and that's how I learned about Sabi and ended up working with her on "(Drop Dead) Beautiful." I have always wanted to feature a new artist on one of my albums and she is really cool.

What led to your collaboration with willi.am? What was it like working with him?
The Peas make incredibly catchy, fun pop/dance records and I LOVE will.i.am's style. I have always wanted to do a song with him and would love to work with him more in the future. He is so interesting.

Dr. Luke has become a big-name producer in his own right since your last album - is it different working with him now?
Not really. We have known each other for a really long time. Most people don't know this but we actually worked together when I was recording "Blackout." He was incredible back then and he has only gotten better over the years.

Dr. Luke said last fall that "I want [the sound] to get harder in some ways, and maybe a little more deep into electronic - grimier." Did you have that same agenda for the album? Do you feel like you accomplished that?
When we first sat down to talk about Femme Fatale I knew I wanted to make a dance album that was ahead of everything else out there but unique to me which is why I was so picky with the recording process. I only wanted songs that I immediately connected to. I also wanted to make sure that this album was completely different from Circus or anything else I had ever recorded. I love Circus but I wanted something darker and edgier. I also wanted to make an album and didn't want to just record a bunch of songs and put them together. I think Femme Fatale is really connected from start to finish.

What is it about Max Martin that makes you so comfortable collaborating with him? How much bigger of a role did he take on this album than he did for "Circus"?
Max played a huge role on this album and he has been there since the beginning so there is such a huge level of trust. He gets exactly what I am saying when I tell him what I want and don't want musically. His melodies are incredible and he is always coming up with weird sounds, which I love. The whistle on "I Wanna Go" still gets me every time I hear it. Who would have thought of that? There is nobody I feel more comfortable collaborating with in the studio.

How would you characterize the studio relationship between Max and Dr. Luke?
They are two peas in a pod. It's a total bromance.

"Till The World Ends" Debut

With Lady Gaga locked in at No. 1 for a fourth week and only one song entering the top 10, Britney Spears makes the Billboard Hot 100's splashiest headlines, debuting at No. 20 with "Till the World Ends."

Although she snaps a string of two consecutive No. 1 debuts ("3" and "Hold It Against Me"), a feat only she and Mariah Carey have managed, Spears logs the fifth-highest-debuting of her 25 Hot 100 entries. "Till The World Ends," the second single from Femme Fatale, due March 29, arrives with 117,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, after three days of availability. ("Hold It Against Me," the set's lead track, launched at No. 1 seven weeks ago with 411,000 downloads after six days on sale).

"Till The World Ends," co-written by Ke$ha, concurrently starts at No. 68 on Radio Songs with 16.8 million out-of-the-box audience impressions on 145 stations, according to Nielsen BDS.

Meanwhile, in its sixth week on the chart, "Hold It Against Me" jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart.
