VMA Commercial With Russell Brand

In a new promo for MTV's Video Music Awards, set for Sept. 13 in New York City, Britney Spears wishes for a personal invite from Russell Brand, who is hosting for the second year in a row.

Standing by a pool in a white bikini and a black sun hat, Spears says in a voiceover, "I wonder if he'll invite me. I mean, I can obviously get an invite, but it would be nice for Russell to invite me personally now that we're friends and all."

Meanwhile, Brand has VMA jitters of his own. "I hope I didn't balls it up with her last time," he says. "Some of those things I said could have been construed as offensive. I hope she don't think ill of me."

Back to Spears, this time biting her fingernail: "Should I have played it up more when he was flirting with me last year? I have to admit there is something sexy about his dangerous ways."

At the end of the spot, Brand realizes he's hearing Spears's voiceover and that she might be hearing his. What's a bloke to do? "Britney," he says in a high-pitched voice, "this is the voice of your mind ... go to Russell's hotel room and abandon yourself. Give yourself to him, Britney. Sleep with Russell!"

The VMAs air live on Sept. 13 (9 p.m. EST) on MTV.

The Circus At Madison Square Garden

Britney Spears pulled out all the stops for her first night of three shows at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Donning several different sexy outfits and addressing the crowd a few times, Spears definitely showed her critics that she can still charm an arena full of fans.

After opening acts Kristinia DeBarge and Jordin Sparks finished their sets, the Circus began. First came acrobats on trampolines, then the opening video of Perez Hilton dressed as a queen presenting the show's ringmaster, Spears herself.

Spears descended from the ceiling dressed in a shiny metal bodysuit, starting the show off with her single "Circus." She then hopped in a cage with male dancers dressed in S&M gear for "Piece of Me."

Britney broke out a slew of fan favorites, like "Radar" (complete with pole dancing), "Boys," (during which she requested the male dancers do push-ups for her) and "If U Seek Amy," which segued into Spears reemerging onstage in her genie attire for "Me Against The Music."

But the crowd got most excited when Spears addressed them directly, asking how everyone was doing before saying, "I'm going to do a ballad. It's called 'Everytime.' " She then wiped something away from her cheek - it seemed she got a bit emotional while floating above the stage in the arm of a giant umbrella.

Spears spoke to the fans again, asking, "What's up New York?" before launching into a remixed version of "I'm a Slave 4 U" sporting a sparkly black bodysuit.

"Toxic" also wowed the crowd as Britney performed the hit in skintight red pants, a black sports bra and knee-high boots. Her last song before the encore was a remixed version of her classic, "...Baby One More Time."

As she took the stage for final time, a video featuring the most memorable images from her music videos played as the music for "Womanizer" kicked in. Dressed as a policewoman, she closed the show with a blaze of fireworks, addressing the crowd one more time before taking her bow, saying, "Have a wonderful night."

Britney Mania In Times Square

In what can only be described as a hot mess, hundreds of fans descended upon the Hershey store in Times Square, where she awarded a lucky fan front-row tickets to her show Monday night (August 24) at Madison Square Garden.

Britney, who spent the day tweeting candy-related hints about where she could be found. And the fans, along with two clowns and Britney's manager, Larry Rudolph, arrived in droves to catch a glimpse of the pop star. A glimpse was probably all they got of the singer, who briefly stepped out of her car to award the tickets to a fan named Lara Buongiorno, according to her Twitter account. After meeting with the pop star in front of the store, they stepped on a bus and made their way to the show.

Spears then got back into her car as fans left the scene. Earlier in the day, Britney had tweeted that fans could find her at a place of "guilty pleasure."

The teens have once again spoken, and their favorites seem to be "Twilight," Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and "Gossip Girl." The 2009 Teen Choice Awards were held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Moments before the taping began, Britney and her boys were spotted making their way through Backstage Creations' Bop It Celebrity Retreat gifting tent. "The boys played Band Hero with Jayden drumming and Preston playing guitar," an onlooker reports. "Britney sang and danced and cheered them on."

Britney was presented with the Ultimate Choice Award by Miley Circus. Before Britney got up on stage to receive the award, a video montage showcasing important moments from her 10 years in the business was presented.

"I'm a huge fan of hers," Miley Cyrus said, presenting the Ultimate Choice Award to "hero" Britney Spears. Clad in a black sequined gown, Spears thanked fans, saying, "you guys are awesome." The auditorium started chanting her name and Britney said: "Thank you and God bless."
